    It's all received wisdoms.

Wales are passionate, Ireland's fans will celebrate whatever the score, Spain need a center forward to put crosses into, so do Germany, England are always wrong.

For the first time ever, ITV's coverage is better than BBC's. Mainly because Bilic has been great and Shearer continues to interrupt everyone with his amazing insights. It doesn't help Kilbane comes across like an autistic boy band member.

Clive Tyldsley is still dreadful though.

Bilic has been a good success, didn't think he would to be honest but he's the best one at ITV. Ferdinand is OK on the Beeb alongside the usual pundits - wouldn't have minded seeing Gullit somewhere.

Ferdinand is decent but he still has his tongue pretty far up Ronny boys bum. Bilic has been brilliant.

Bilic insights make most of the British pundits look lazy I think, not all of course.

Oh yeah, he loves "Wazza". I have to say Rooney has been very good though.

Ferdinand is awful, great footballer, awful pundit. His way with words is like Peter Crouch or Jordan Henderson with a football. He recently said the word 'disablised' when talking about football.

My ranking would be (starting with the best):

    Danny Murphy
    Jermaine Jenas
    Ruud Gullit
    Thierry Henry
    Savage
    Ferdinand

    Lawrenson

I also agree with the OP's point about the recycled 'ideas' about teams in the tournament, or their fans. Some of my favourites:

Germany can just coast in 'second gear'
The (any british isles team other than England) are high on passion.
Spain just need a top striker.
Italy have just got that tournament know-how.
'You always expect the Germans to get to the semis'.
When you've got Ronaldo in your team, you're a threat to anyone.
    Belgium just lack teamwork.
    Something about France gaining momentum.
Something about England lacking quality in the final third.
Rio trying to give an 'insight' in to the England camp.
Lawrenson talking about a player's haircut.

Some of these are true, but they are recycled a ridiculous amount.

The only pundits worth listening to are:

    Gary Neville
    Jamie Carragher
    Graeme Souness
    Jamie Redknapp
    Slaven Bilic

    Spoiler:
    Show
And Andy Gray back in the day.

I think I heard Lee Dixon lecturing Ronaldo how to play up front. Comical really.

Exactly. Most of them are going through the motions and picking up the cheque but for some of them it's a career.

I'd have to get rid of Jamie Redknapp in that but otherwise agree.
