    Hello I was just wondering if anyone would have their opinions on the end of year school assembly speech I'm going to give on Friday?

    Hello. I would like to take a few minutes to mention somethings which I find important about Hillhead, as well as my own learningexperiences over the last 6 years. I am aware that the special thank youmentions will be mentioned later but I wanted to highlight some areas. I thinkwhat warrants a mention is the immense work of the PSE and guidance teachers.People like Mr Rennie, Ms Gilholm, Mr Griffin, Ms Hewitt, Miss Mason and manyothers. I feel that they are an integral part of the infrastructure upon whichHillhead functions. The department works extraneously and t give a simpleexample, I have seen Miss Mason no less than 23 times this year. Probably overa hundred in the past 6 years. From doctors’ appointments to school problems tojust general advice and more. Mr Murray, the principal teacher for life workand skills, has also worked a lot to help people get to their futuredestinations in which they hope to achieve. I have spoken to Mr Murray onnumerous occasions this year mainly due to my own University application butapart from this there has been many many other things including modernapprenticeships, college help etc.This is in doubt shying away from the immense amount of workthat teachers done. The support and effort they gave in adverse and newconditions was absolutely second to none. Although the way I picture it isthis: when we started secondary, there was an invisible wall between the startand the end of school. Through the complete infrastructure of teachers, seniormanagement, pupils, janitors and everyone else, a ladder was built, rung byrung, which allowed us to scale over it and enter the wider world. Now a newladder needs to be built every year and it is imminent the quality ofeverything at Hillhead. The pupil population increasing from 670 toapproximately 1300 is something a select few organisations can do in such ashort time.I think in my time here, the most compelling thing I havediscovered is the fact that school is not just about learning material to justrecollect in an exam, a misconception that unfortunately still exists in manyplaces. Exams are only a very, very small part of the overall journey.Communication, people, interaction, and the most interesting of it all,thinking skills. The ability to think in new ways, solve problems, face newchallenges, adapt to changes all led up to many life skills being learnt,making me a better person and allowing me to discover who I’m truly am. My onlyregret is probably not being able to do as many creative arts as I would haveliked but hey I can’t ask for anything more. Everything has been perfect andHillhead will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you.

    Not sure what you're trying to say, but imminent isn't the right word.

    A few corrections in bold.

    It's alright, I think. The message is clear, but you could afford to maybe throw in some lighthearted remarks or jokes, like maybe something funny that a teacher always says or a funny memory from school.

    Thank you so much!! I reworded the ladder to: "Through the work of teachers, senior management, pupils, janitors and everyone else, a ladder was built, step by step, which allowed us to scale over it and enter the wider world. A structure which only has become better year by year."

    Yeah, it makes sense. It's a bit hit-or-miss in my opinion, though. It could work, but I find it a bit cheesy no offence. And it might not matter if it's cheesy anyway
