i am a fifth year student, currently doing 4 highers(Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English) and 1 National Five(maths). I have recently been looking at degree choices and Medicine has really interested me. However, as you probably already know, you need to do five highers in one sitting. I could drop maths and do another higher like RMPS and pick up maths again in sixth year, but will this weaken my chances of doing Medicine? Is maths an important aspect of medicine and Is National five maths enough for Medicine? Thank you

Yes, Nat 5 Maths is enough for Medicine. Most unis ask for Chemistry and/or Biology at H, plus one of Maths and Physics. So your Physics is enough. However, you absolutely need 5 highers so I would say swap out your Nat 5.

There's a COUPLE of universities (Imperial off the top of my head) that was to see Higher maths specifically. But everywhere else in the UK - your combo of the 3 sciences is MORE than enough!

I wouldn't think so. They don't care when you get it, just that you get it.
