I've just left a job at Sainsbury's, where I had never had a problem with my piercings.

I have my tongue and septum (not visible) but also two earrings, two tragus piercings and a helix and forward helix.

They're healed but knowing my body WILL heal over if I took them out for a shift, also, the aggro on the piercing constantly being messed with will irritate them.

I'm starting work on the cafe/bakery, so obviously I've experienced rules with open food before, two plain studs, nothing below the elbow.

I have some clear retainers to put in but they might also be noticed.

So, has anyone had experience with M&S before? I'm hoping to notice someone else with more than two studs on the counter and take my chance too.

Do I put the retainers in, and hope they don't get noticed (at the risk if I ever put metal jewelry in they will be picked up and noticed more?)

Or vise versa, I keep the current studs in and wait to be told otherwise, taking the risk that they will make a mental log and notice any retainers in future? Plus side being that they may just see them and accept me starting as I am, as I've had employers before get more frustrated at actively getting these piercings.

I'm inclined to go with the retainers but would love to hear any experience.

    Thank you

See personally, I'd go with the retainers just in case. If it's a temp job, they seem to be more lenient. They were quite happy with me and my stretched ear! That being said, if you're specifically going to be working with food I'd just play it safe. If they do notice the metal jewellery and you switch, chances are they'll notice the retainers too. I've lost out with that risk before lol
