I'm sure you haven't messed them up

I'll ask him later, though he was in the ground floor room when he lived at Brunel Close too so he too may only have experience of that one.

Sorry to jump on the 'let's bug Angelil' bandwagon!

I'll be applying for Radiography so likely end up at St David's if Exeter is where I go, just wondering if you could apply for a sort of more, quiet flat or something  And how many toilets/showers are there per person in one of the houses/flats?

Reply 22

There are certainly quiet flats in larger accommodation blocks such as Lafrowda but don't know if they exist for smaller accommodation blocks such as St David's - though having said that, it seemed pretty quiet anyway so there may not be the same need down there.

I only saw one toilet and shower room (which also contained a bath - most uni bathrooms just have a shower) as I was just coming up from the ground floor and just went into the first bathroom I saw. I'll try and get my boyfriend onto TSR to answer all your questions about St David's - he is a member but hardly ever comes on here I think.

OK, have spoken to him and it appears that the St David's rooms get progressively bigger as you move up the house, with there being room for a double bed as you reach the top rooms (n.b. do not take this as read that you will be provided with a double bed in these rooms!). Note that you don't pay different rates of rent according to the room size - though if the size of room that I had was the smallest one then I wouldn't think there's much to complain about anyway.

There are two bathrooms per house - one on the first floor with a toilet and a bath with shower head, and one on the top floor with a toilet and shower.

Thank you for being so helpful Angelil! Have some rep

I am studying down on the cornwall campus, and staying in glasney park. i know this prob doesnt apply to alot of u but the accomodation down there is more like a hotel, and i cnt wait to go there, all en-suite and double beds, as the whole campus was only built 3 years ago, (oh and satelite tv in the communal kitchen shared with 6 others).

Aye, great. That'd be the ensuite that breaks all the time then (mine did, it wasn't worth the money). Watch that money disappear...

Really, were u down on the cornwall campus were u?dats shocking, espesh as it is all new there.

Reply 29

I was on Streatham, but my ensuite never broke - everything was perfect! Just to reassure you...

I have photos of my Penny C room if anyone wants them, but that's obviously catered.

Ooh, if it's ok could I have a look?! I'm in Penny C and would love to know what I'm in for
How big are the wardrobes? Any advice/tips what (or what not) to bring?
Thanks, I would find any info you have really useful.

Reply 32

Yeah, my photos are posted on this site somewhere, I'll try and find them because they're on my laptop which I don't really use at home. But I'll find them somewhere!
The wardrobes aren't that big, but they're a decent size. You also get a reasonably sized chest of drawers with three drawers in it. I didn't have a problem fitting everything in, but I didn't take THAT much stuff.
Don't really have advice on what to bring - it's just the normal stuff really. I loved my doorstop though for keeping my door open and knowing what was going on, haha. The kitchen has just a microwave and a kettle, so you might want to bring a toaster/sandwich maker etc. However, my corridor got a toaster from Tescos on the first day for not very much money at all and it did us just fine.
Umm, if you have any other questions just ask, I don't really know what to tell you!

Right I found a couple

The above is the view from my door into the room. The door you can see is the wardrobe but there's another door to the right of that which is the bathroom (don't have a picture of that, sorry! But it's good - toilet, amazing power shower, sink, and a little bathroom cupboard - there isn't much space to store things and it's quite small, but it does the job well, especially with the heated towel rail ). The inside of the wardrobe door has a mirror on it, very useful!

And then that is the 'study area'! So quite a lot of shelving (there are three shelves, you can only see two) and desk space which I manage to clutter up easily! That's to the right of the room. On the left of that picture, to the right of the bed, is the balcony door.
I hope that helps a bit and wasn't too confusing  Ask anything else you want!

That was all great- many many thanks, the rooms look really nice
A few questions (sorry I'm being a right pain!).
*What's the food like?!
*Are the rooms arranged in flats, is there a common room shared between them (I know there's a small kitchen, but is that per corridor/flat?)
*Do they provide a duvet/pillows? I'm bringing my own bedlinen (even though they can give you those too) and I believe they provide you with the actual duvet. I get cold really easily though and was wondering if it would be better to bring my own duvet anyway?

By the way (random) I have just bought that Breakfast at Tiffanys poster and I have that Audrey Hepburn calendar too! You have good taste

Thanks very much, you'll wish you never said you lived there now :s-smilie: :p:

You're not being a pain at all, I was exactly the same last year!

I personally thought the food was pretty good, but some of my friends weren't impressed, so I don't know if I'm just not that fussy or maybe will eat anything! Some things are better than others, but if it all looks rubbish there's always the option of getting a takeaway pizza! Seriously though, it was very very very very very rare that I didn't find anything to eat and if you don't fancy any of the meals there are always jacket potatoes/sandwiches/salad. It's pretty varied too, the same things come round again but it takes a while for that to happen.

The rooms are arranged in corridors - there were 9 rooms in my corridor, but I'm not sure if that's the same for every corridor - we were at the end of the building so I think it's a bit different. The door at the end of the corridor locks which is a bit of a pain but it's not that big a deal, people just knock and get let in. Some corridors are mixed and some are single-sex, ours was single-sex which was a bit of a surprise at first (yes I was disappointed, haha) but I ended up really liking it that way. There's a kitchen on each corridor - it's quite big, definitely big enough to get your whole corridor and some mates in anyway  And there's a common room in Lopes main wing (so not one specifically for Penny C, but Penny Cers go there...the dining room is in main wing too).

Yes they do provide a duvet and pillows but I personally brought my own just for a bit of home comfort! None of my friends complained about being overly cold but if you do get cold easily it might be a good idea to bring yours just to be on the safe side.

Audrey Hepburn is my idol haha

No problem, anything else feel free to ask!
