i just got my letter through 2day, and im staying at northernhay, its in the city. Anybody know anything about it? thanks xxx

It's a good location - not too far from campus and spitting distance from Sainsburys.

However, it's run by the uni in association with Unite, which I gather isn't the greatest thing from what I've heard about Unite.

I found out today that I'm in room 302 in lafrowda block D.
I'm confused as to why there isnt a flat number....so can whoever gets into a block have free access to all the corridors on all the floors?
Or is there a lockable door to get onto each floor?
I assume there is a 12 person flat on each floor?
Can anyone help?

Your block is D, your flat is 3 and your room is 02. Each block has 4 12 person flats, one on each floor, and there's a lockable door leading to each, so you can only get into your own flat.

how do you find out what flat and room number you are?

All i know is that im in block E

Reply 45

You need to ring up the accommodation office - thats how I found out what room I was in =)

I assume it works differently in Cook Mews as there are rooms 001 etc, so I guess its by floor rather than flat number...and you get 215 and theres only 5 rooms per flat...

Thank you
So if my flat is 3, does that mean I'm on the third floor?!
Whoopeee!
Romeosbitch - I did indeed email the accommodation office to find out, but only cos I'm looking into buying books online before I go and may have to send them to my uni residence cos they take 3 weeks to ship or something stupid!

Reply 47

Cheers sophisticated, I think I'll email them just because i want to know where I am!

No problem  Yes, but I don't know why you're so happy about that. Being on the third floor is a pain when you have to drag all your stuff up all those stairs!!

but at least i wont have to worry about being burgled when drunk freshers leave the windows and doors open lol.
on the positive side
i'll only have to move all my stuff in once anyway....can't wait!
plus, i need the exercise

how many floors can there be in lafrowda?
watch me be on the fifth floor or something retarded.

emailing tomorow, kinda sad how i really want to know a number really, I'm not a maths student, this kind of behaviour is unusual for me!

Reply 52

It only goes up to 4 - I was in Q407 in my first year and was thus on the top floor

Lol that's true. Don't worry about exercise in Exeter- there are so many hills all over the place that you can't avoid it!

Hiya! Quick question:
Is James Owen Court classed as St Lukes self-catered accommodation (like Rowancroft is)?

Thanks a bunch of Orchids :-)

Reply 55

James Owen Court is either I think.
I've been assigned it and I will be on the Streatham Campus.

Reply 56

Oh thats cool that where ive been assigned too!!! (you prob already get that I just said coz im real excited!) Im A205 which should mean block A flat 2 room 05 (i think)...do you know yours yet?

[Oh n the reason I was asking about what JOC is classed as is coz I didnt know which talk to go to during welcome week as there is one thats 'Compulsory for students living in the University's range of self-catered rooms, except Rowancroft and other St. Lukes accommodation' and there is one thats 'Compulsory for students living in Rowancroft and other St. Lukes self-catered accommodation'...kinda confusing.

Reply 57

I don't think it matters which talk you go to as it's likely to be the same material - it's probably just so they can regulate the flow of people a bit and not have everyone turning up to the same talk  Most of it will likely be common sense stuff anyway :p:

Don't know if you're on Facebook, but there's a group I set up for people living in JOC for 2007-2008. There's a fair few Block A people on there. I'll post the address later, I can't find the group number at the moment because I'm locked out of my account for maintenance.

I'll be going to the Streatham talk.
