If you're definitely going to dye your hair then do the patch test. You only have to put a small amount on your skin so it won't cause any major damage if you do have a reaction to it. It's certainly preferable to risking putting it all over your hair and getting a reaction, as that can be fatal

I really suggest doing a skin test as well as a strand test. A skin test will ensure you aren't allergic to the dye so don't have to worry about taking a reaction although you may still have a slight itch or irritation after using a dye but that is normal and a strand test will show you the exact colour it will turn out and also is your hair is strong enough to take that dye. I've learned the hard way about the importance of skin and strand tests.

I know how annoying it can be to wait a day or 2 extra to dye your hair due to these tests, especially if your hair is a mess and needs dyed or you are just impatient but its better to be safe than sorry
