Gcse Handwriting Worries

Hi there. I have recently finished my GCSE's and am relieved to have done so. However, i am now worrying about the legibility of my handwriting. Throughout my school career, i have always had problems with my handwriting but most of the time my teachers have just about been able to decypher my writing. However, i am worried that after being in an exam situation and having to write against the clock that my handwriting may have been even worse than usual. So, will examiners spend a long time trying to decypher poor handwriting? Has anyone ever had there handwriting cause them to do much worse on there exams? and if so, what happened from there?

It's simple. If they can read it they'll mark it, but if they can't, they can't. Post a scanning of your work or something if you're desperate to get some sort of verdict, but examiners deal with a lot of candidates' work and will be able to understand most handwriting.

Remember, examiners have to mark hundreds of papers, and are used to terrible handwriting. They will know how to read messy handwriting in most cases.

If they really have trouble, maybe they try their best & mark it anyway? Or they might forward to another examiner?

Really though, there is nothing you can do [if anything] until Results Day, so don't worry! :smile:

What if, 4 example, i gt all F's when i am predicted A*'s and A's and i know that the only thing that could have resulted in the F's was my handwriting. Is there any course of action in tht kind of situation?

I know a few girls who have extremely bad handwriting, and a teacher actually told them to write in their paper apologising for their handwriting ;yes;

Don't worry, I bet mine's worse :p:
Examiners must be used to bad handwriting by now, especially since the majority of them are teachers/former teachers. A lot of teachers have appalling handwriting anyway, so it's not unique to students. The examiner will try their best to read it and if they really can't, they'll pass it around other examiners until they find someone who can. I really doubt it'll be a problem.

*Apparently* if they can't read it, they won't just discard it immediately, they will pass it on to a more senior marker who will know how to handle the situation.

My handwriting is already messy, but in exams being timed and stuff, because I am rushing to finish the paper my handwriting goes MESSIER!
Especially in English and History, when the examiner gets to the last page they will be like "OH.MY.GOD"
Mine isn't messy...it's just the smallest writing you'll ever see guaranteed, It's because I write fast, I had to go back and largen some words to make them understandable...do you think they can use a magnifying glass to mark it? lol i'm being serious
Handwriting doesnt really matter, mine isnt the best ever, but still managable/readable!

So dont worry!

Oh don't worry about it at all. One of my teachers is an A level examiner and she said when she cannot read someones handwriting she just gives it to another examiner.
