    TO
    Privatise the BBC, privatise Channel 4, and remove the licence fee.

    BE IT ENACTED by The Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Commons in this present Parliament assembled, in accordance with the provisions of the Parliament Acts 1911 and 1949, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

    1 Channel Four Television Corporation

    (1) Channel Four Television Company will be valued by an organisation appointed by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport.
    (2) The process of privatisation, and floating the company on the stock market shall be handled by the organisation the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport appoints to value Channel Four.
    (3) A 15% stake in Channel Four Television Company shall be transferred to United Kingdom Financial Investments Ltd.

    2 British Broadcasting Corporation

    (1) The British Broadcasting Corporation will be valued by an organisation appointed by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport.
    (2) The process of privatisation, and floating the company on the stock market shall be handled by the organisation the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport appoints to value the BBC.
    (3) A 15% stake in the British Broadcasting Corporation shall be transferred to United Kingdom Financial Investments Ltd.

    3 Repeals

    (1) Part 3 Chapter 1 of the Communications Act 2003 is hereby repealed.
    (2) Part 4 of the Communications Act 2003 is hereby repealed.
    (3) Part 3 Chapter 4 Section 338 of the Communications Act 2003 is hereby repealed.
    (4) Chapter 4 sections 295-297 titled Special Obligations for Channel Four of the Communications Act 2003 is hereby repealed.
    (5) The Communications (Television Licensing) Regulations 2004 is hereby repealed.
    (6) The Communications (Television Licensing) (Amendment) Regulations 2010 is hereby repealed.

    4 BBC Trust

    The BBC trust will be disbanded immediately at the passing of this Act.

    5 Ofcom

    (1) Ofcom is hereby abolished.
    a. References to Ofcom in the Communications Act 2003 are repealed.
    (2) All obligations a Public Service Broadcast will be removed.

    6 Commencement, short title and extent

    (1) This Act shall come into force on the 1st April 2017.
    (2) This Act may be cited as the Media Act 2016.
    (3) This Act extends to the United Kingdom.

    Notes

    This is a rewrite of the bill in April to privatise the two state broadcasters in Britain.
