The last question ( the drawing of the graph ) is confusing me a lot. I was thinking it would be a small jump (like a curve) between 3 and 5 going upwards, and the same downwards between 8 and 10, the rest being straight lines, however my friend has told me this is wrong and it is just a straight line between those points, Could someone please explain me to what the actual answer is (to C ii)?

    Thank you.

You're trying to draw a graph showing how the *gradient* of the first graph changes with distance from X

parts of the first graph that are horizontal have a gradient of zero
parts of the first graph going like this / have a +ve gradient
parts of the first graph going like this \ have a -ve gradient

edit... oh sorry - looks like you're right and your friend is wrong... providing your straight lines are all going straight along the X axis (E=0)

    Alright thanks

Thankfully the question in the exam was just a simple trig curve
