Just a simple one for everyone.

Why do we all seem to argue the point of different religions and beliefs?

Simply because there is a sense of 'right' and 'wrong' and 'belief' in all of us inately. We then choose a religion or belief set, be it gnostic or otherwise, that we feel best helps us answer life's "Big Questions".

This belief set then gives us a base for our lives and subsequently a basis for debate and argument.

    Many reasons:
    • Everyone has a view on it
    • It will never be proven one way or the other so people feel safe that they can't be disproven
    • It is a huge issue causing wars etc. that needs to be discussed

    Also: It is enjoyable.

Well, if people's beliefs did not affect the way others (beyond the believer) are treated, there would be no awareness of it and thus nothing to discuss. The moment one's beliefs start to alter how one interacts with the world, the beliefs immediately open themselves to questioning.

This is most obvious when the belief causes others discomfort. Such as when Jehova's witnesses are compelled by their beliefs to preach to others at their doorsteps. Beliefs (especially religions) - as someone said - are the cause of many wars and surely something that takes lives for the purpose of a greater good warrants questioning.

I think the problem resides in how most religions manage their crowds. Most were made to guide people in "whats wrong and whats good". The problem is that 95 % of the world's population dont even have the option of choosing their own religion cause they are given birth in a certain "religion" atmosphere and most of them arent even interested in doing a deep study in what they belief.

Religions were created to avoid problems but trough the years most leaders have been destroying this non competition by manipulating the information.

My advice is dont arguee about religion when you cant accept other's ideas.

I guarantee you that many people who consider themselves truely religious will disagree wholeheartedly with that statement. Besides, it ignores polytheism. Religion, not only dictates people's beliefs, it also dictates how they behave. As religion, like all systems of ideas exists in the human mind, it must replicate and the only way of doing this is to pass on the information. This automatically compells any truely religious person to spread their faith (as you'll find in most religious books - this is an intrinsic part of the faiths). Therein lies one fundamental problem. How can one choose to ignore (and not argue with), what continues to pester them and tell them that their beliefs are wrong, because they don't agree with another's holy scripture?

Not only this, but most religions try to impose their lifestyle on society as a whole, and to influence legislation so as to embody their religious principles.

E.g. in Islam, there is no difference between the Umma (the society of believers) and the state, and between Islamic principles (shariah) and national legislation.

Most religions, once afforded the opportunity, tend to be exclusive, to oppress dissenters and, at best, tolerate them as second-class citizens
