There is a list of each university forum - it may be worth asking in there for specific things about Manchester, E, Nottingham etc.

As for the maths element - have a look at the course, whether they offer placements might be a factor of interest to you (it wasn't when I applied, but now I find it to be invaluable), what the course is like, whether they let you choose mostly areas that you think you'll enjoy, etc.

And visit if you can - it's important for getting a feel of the uni, talking to current students etc.
