I'm moving from Ireland to Scotland for university (probably for work first in a week or two).

I decided it was time to do a bit of research on banks and stuff, but everything I find puts all of the importance of a student account on overdrafts. According to my mate, who's currently studying in Wales, international students barely ever get overdrafts or anything because of the lack of a credit rating.

My folks (and I) lived in Scotland till 2003, but I imagine that's a bit long ago for their credit rating to be relevant and even more so...I'm pretty sure it wasn't the best

I'm not overly pushed on overdrafts but just wanted to know if I'm entitled to a Student Account in Scotland and if so, which would be the best to choose?

    Cheers.
