You do realise accountants do a huge variety of jobs?

Generally, qualifying as an accountant takes 3 years and you have to do around 15 exams.

Day to day life varies hugely depending on your job role, so it's impossible to comment on that.
It can take several years to qualify as an accountant but it generally means dealing with big numbers and looking out for potential fraud cases etc. They are often giving advice to the manager of the section of the business to what needs to happen in the future and why things are as they are, but not every accountant does that.
