Gunfire has been heard in the diplomatic area of the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, local media and witnesses report.

The shooting is said to have happened at a cafe in the affluent suburb of Gulshan. Unconfirmed reports say hostages have been taken. It is not clear if there are casualties.
