Last Conservative Manifesto makes not mention of EU (in or out)Watch
I don't think the EU is mentioned.
The Scottish Conservatives got a huge number of new seats in Scotland on the back of this manifesto.
Where is the moral justification for lying to the electorate?
Then take the UK wide Conservative manifesto. There is no pledge to take the UK out of the EU , there is only a pledge to hold a referendum.
Most honourable people would suggest that, before the referendum result can be enacted by any specific party, that party must have a manifesto pledge . Obviously millions of people in London, and Manchester and now Scotland voted Conservative thinking that there is no pledge to take the UK out of the EU and thus its quite safe to vote Conservative for other reasons.
Thus, in effect, millions of Conservatives would have been disfranchised - they would have voted for something that they really really really strongly disagree with.
What does Cameron et al say to the Scottish Conservatives who have just been conned into Voting Conservative?
I expected them to act on any referendum result (even if i expected a Remain win at the time) so i can't say i'm too concerned.
