    Hey guys.

    Hope everyone's exams went well.

My teacher was stressing throughout the year that it is important for the opinion article in paper 2 to have a "catchy" headline in order to get high marks.

However, theres nothing specific on the Mark Scheme that points towards this being important.

I did not have time to put a headline on my article in the exam; I did not do one at all.

So I was wondering, do you think / have you been told that its so important as to lose you many marks if you omit it?

    thanks

Having a headline is part of using the features of the form/mode, so while there's no set thing about having a headline it does help. You won't lose marks, but you just won't get as many marks for that part as you could

A headline isn't really going to affect your mark. It's one line and, while it shows an understanding of the form, it is the quality of your actual writing that will be of central concern.

A headline will create impressions, but not having one will not limit the mark you can get
