Compter Science Graduate With No Work Experience At A Company. watch

    • Thread Starter

Suppose i were a CompSci Grdauate but i had never worked at a software company before, but instead built a bunch of video games and apps. Would me not working at a company lower my chances of getting a job? (Sorry i posted something similar in another forum, just hoping to get more responses)

Yes it would if you were applying for a job that required 'working for a company' ie working with other people, in an office, collaborative type of environment.

No it wouldn't if you were applying for a role as a 'working from home' producer of piece work.

The further challenge is that employers know that they can train in technical skills if they have to, they can't train in soft skills like being a good team member. So if you don't bring that evidence to your application, you are going to struggle to be competitive.

What you can try and do, is demonstrate those softer skills from areas of your life, other than 'work' ie from your Interests, sports, societies, volunteering etc.

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
