What are the laws/punishments in the UK regarding software pirating? Watch

    I'm not talking about distribution but software (Photoshop/After effects/etc.) that is downloaded through torrenting and used for personal use.

    Can you get sued? Can you get done in the UK for doing such thing?

    I think you can get sued but it's beyond unlikely as companies don't bother with those kind of small time cases any more, just distribution cases.

    Software is intellectual property. Penalties for software piracy piracy can be up to ten years in prison and unlimited fines. A lot of software has piracy detection built in these days.
