I'm currently writing a cover letter for an internship with an MP.

The advert says to send the application to a woman who is NOT the MP and I feel the MP herself is not likely to read it.

Should I address the letter to the MP anyway, or to the person I am emailing my application to?

And in the letter should I refer to the MP in the first (you) or third (she) person?

    Please help!!!

Do what the advert says - address it to the woman who is not the MP, and therefore if you refer to the MP it should be in the third person (although her name is likely to be more appropriate than she).

The reason I'm confused is because the advert doesn't say who to address it to - it says 'Apply by emailing a 2 page CV and a cover letter to....'

But I should still definitely address it to this person?

Either do your research to find our who that person is, or appropriately structure the letter as if you don't know who the person is.But if the instructions explicitly state not to send/address it to the MP, I wouldn't ignore them.
