Beginning a masters before degree has officially finished? Watch

I suspect this might be a stupid question, but I'm asking anyway just in case I'm mistaken. At the moment I'm doing a degree with the OU, so I don't have any experience of going through the application and selection process for a uni.

Next year my final module starts in February and doesn't officially finish until October. I'm wondering whether it would usually be possible to start a masters in September though.

I know then when applying to do a degree, you'll be made an offer based on your predicted grades and being able to start the degree is dependent upon actually achieving the appropriate grades.

If I apply for a masters next year though, I'll have already completed and received the results for 75% of my final years credits, so I should already know what my degree classification is going to be. So could I be accepted to start a masters before actually finishing my degree?

    Thanks in advance.

I think that is something you are going to have to query with university admissions. Certainly my uni wanted to see the final transcript from my undergrad degree before making my offer unconditional. Also consider the practicalities- if your OU course doesn't finish until October, does that mean you'll still have undergraduate work to do at the same time as trying to start your Masters? To me it makes sense for you to wait a year.

You need the final transcript confirming you have obtained your bachelors to enroll in any masters degree.

Thanks, I assumed that would be the case but I just wanted to check. I could have made sure I finished the bachelor's work before October, but it's a slight relief that now I won't be tempted to rush things if I have no choice but to wait for the following year to begin the masters.
