Sorry if this is the wrong forum, just curious. I'm assuming that the majority of those taking A Levels or some other level 3 course (e.g. an Access Diploma) are *not* retaking a GCSE (e.g. Mathematics), but I'm wondering if there are any stats on this? A teacher said to me that Clearing doesn't really kick off until the GCSE results are through (one week after A Level results), but this doesn't seem right as I doubt that very many uni applicants are resitting GCSEs (although I am, and I had classmates who were).
How unusual is it to retake GCSEs alongside A Levels? watch

Not many unless I they didn't get a C in maths or English which is really important. I took an extra GCSE alongside AS this year but I think I was the only one from my year so I don't think its that commom

I think A Levels are far more important. The only ones who did that that I know of did not pass their English and Maths, anything else seems to be unnecessary.
