So it dawned on me as I decided to enter this challenge that this summer will be my last ever as a student (unless I decide to do a Masters)
Even though summer 17' will obviously be awesome, I thought I'd make this a great summer too and enjoy life before I'm thrown into the real world next year.

I've never really done much over the past few summers, so I'm happy I decide to take part in this. Plus the £500 would be an absolute blessing for a poor student like myself (woe is me)

Thank you for taking the time to read my bucket list, and if there's anything on there that you'll be doing too over summer, let me know!

    KEY:
    COMPLETED
    IN PROGRESS
    NOT COMPLETED

    Go on a costal walk
    Spoiler:
    Show
Seeing as I study in Cornwall and I'll be there for a short time this summer I thought I'd take the costal walk from the nearby beach which is supposed to be absolutely beautiful (and tiring!)
    Visit the Caribbean
    Spoiler:
    Show
My family are from a small island called St. Vincent. We used to visit there a lot when I was younger and I haven't been in over 12 years. So I'm going to take a vacation there.
    Pass my driving theory
    Spoiler:
    Show
I always said that once I turned 17 I'd take my driving theory right away so I can learn how to drive early. I'm almost 21 now and still haven't done it. I would love to have a car to drive while I'm at uni so I need to pass my theory first.
    Watch a Drag Queen show
    Spoiler:
    Show
So I became pretty obsessed with Drag Queen's when I accidentally stumbled across RuPaul's Drag Race on Netflix in my first year of uni. I love the art of it, so I've always wanted to watch a live show.
    Start vlogging again
    Spoiler:
    Show
I started vlogging on YouTube late last year but I took a break after Christmas because of uni and I said I'd start again in summer.
    Start drawing manga again
    Spoiler:
    Show
I drew manga when I was in secondary school. Not too sure why I stopped but I'd love to get back into it again.
    Attend a jazz night
    Spoiler:
    Show
I've recently taken an interest in jazz so I thought it would be awesome to attend a jazz night
    Watch a burlesque show
    Spoiler:
    Show
    Man, burlesque is so sexy.
    Start working out
    Spoiler:
    Show
As I said above, burlesque is so sexy. I'd love to try it out some day, so I need to have dat body
    Do spoken word
    Spoiler:
    Show
I am a very vocal person, and I like to speak my mind. I'm also a creative writer and I love to express myself through words, but I've never performed my work before. I love spoken word, so I'm gonna give it a shot.
Go to a swanky rooftop bar and get SMASHED
    Spoiler:
    Show
Lol ok getting smashed isn't necessarily the main goal... But I do wanna go to a rooftop bar.
Eat sushi for the first time
    Spoiler:
    Show
If not sushi, something out of my comfort zone at least.
Come up with a brilliant idea for my dissertation
    Spoiler:
    Show
    I'm scared.
    Complete a new story
    Spoiler:
    Show
I've started writing a new story and I want to complete it. I've only written one novel so far, and everything else I've written have either been short stories or left uncompleted.
    Read a book
    Spoiler:
    Show
For someone who writes for a living, I don't really read. So I want to find an awesome book and read it from start to finish and write a review on it.
    Visit Manchester
    Spoiler:
    Show
I have a cousin who lives there so I want to visit her and have a great time in a different city.
    Get a job
    Spoiler:
    Show
    Dude, I really need one
    Move into my new flat
    Spoiler:
    Show
Moving into my flat for my 3rd year at uni this summer. Won't be staying here for summer as it's in Cornwall and I'm from London (let me know if you want to see pics of my new room)
Get all dolled up for a night out in London
    Spoiler:
    Show
I love going out in London, but rarely do I ever go out looking BOMB. So yeah.
    Visit a casino
    Spoiler:
    Show
Always wanted to go to one for a couple of drinks and maybe go on the slot machines or something. Not gonna get sucked into any big games and lose all my money.
I'll be updating as I go along, no daily posts. But thanks for taking your time to read this. Let me know if you're also interested in doing something on my list. Wish me luck, and I hope you have an epic summer!

1st task to complete: Costal walk

So today I went on my costal walk. It was such a lovely experience and I got to see some beautiful parts of Cornwall. I didn't get to do the complete walk because halfway through I felt pretty unwell so had to turn back home. But nonetheless it was still fun. I should've worn better shoes though cos walking up those hills and through the dirty woodland parts messed up my trainers!

The walk begins at Gylly beach and I ended up in Swanpool I believe. There's also one other beach you arrive at in the end of the walk. Such beautiful beaches. I hope that when I learn how to swim this summer that I can go back to those beaches next year to swim in the sea...

Update: So for some reason I can't edit out my first post properly. Every time I click edit, everything above the 'Visit the Caribbean' spoiler (apart from my photo) is missing :/

    Anyone able to help?

2nd task to complete: Move into my new flat

So I finally moved everything into my new flat and I'm heading back to London tomorrow.

I'll be living in a 2 bed flat with my best friend come September for my final year. I'm not living in the town centre as opposed to living in another smaller town 15 minutes away and right next to campus. I visit town a lot so living here will be far more convenient for me. I've literally got everything on my doorstep.

Only annoying thing is that we live on the high street. So the seagulls wake me up and so do loud rubbish trucks in the morning.

If anyone wants to see pics of my new room, let me know.

3rd task to complete: Come up with an idea for my dissertation

So I study Journalism & Creative Writing. In my last semester of my 2nd year I did a research proposal (basically a mock dissertation but only 3k words) So now I know of the structure and what they're looking for, I've come up with an idea for my dissertation. I haven't come up with a title yet obviously, but I want to look at mainstream journalism and how they represent minorities. Blacks, Muslims and Eastern European migrants tend to get bad representation more so than good from journalists. I want to look at why that is, how they were represented say 10 years ago, what specific events may have shaped this etc.

I'm going to do more research on this over summer as I may find myself telling this to my lecturer in September and have him tell me it won't work (he was brutal to us with just our mock dissertations haha)

That's such an interesting topic idea, could definitely see myself getting carried away with something along those lines  Best of luck with your research for it and hopefully you supervisor isn't harsh! And good luck working through your bucket list too. Your photography is just

Aha thanks! It's going to be difficult trying to just focus on one specific minority (I have a feeling I'll be told to do that) because all experience such bad press, and as a budding journalist I'd like to see that change. But thanks again! I got into instagram a few months ago so I've been trying my best to take some decent photos

    UPDATE

So I just read through the T&C's again, and I realised that the competition ends on the day I go on holiday to the Caribbean

I'm not sure if I'll be able to upload photos just before the competition ends but I'm most definitely going so I can cross it off. I'll still post pics of it after the competition ends just to show I really did go

I can imagine so, but hopefully during your research, you might find certain trends/themes, which may make it easier for you to choose which minority to focus on (I hope that made sense!) or one may just feel easier to bang out 12,000 words on  No problem, you're really good. Photography's something I'd love to get into, a couple of my friends are budding photographers, so maybe with time :teehee:

PS. You should so post your photos of the Caribbean, can only imagine just how lush those scenes are!
