Mark Clattenburg has just been announced as the ref for the Euro 2016 final.

Am I the only one who thinks this guy should be nowhere near an international tournament, let alone the final?

FA Cup final, Champions League final and now this. Quite a year for him. Always nice to see someone local get famous for something other than getting pissed as well.

Just read a few articles about him hadn't realised he was referee for the infamous Mendes-Carroll "goal." He's come a long way since then.

He's a decent ref. Did fine in the champions league final.

No ref is infallible and at the very least he'll hopefully let the game flow

He's an excellent referee, it's too easy for people to sit behind screens and criticise everything they do. He wouldn't have bottled it to give France a penalty for the 'handball' in the semi final.

He had a good game last night, to be fair.

My previous most recent memory of his refereeing was the FA Cup Final, in which he was a complete shambles. As with many footballers, he is a model of inconsistency.

Wouldn't go that far. Plenty of things happened between the handball decision and the Eder goal.

France cost themselves the game by missing a succession of sitters and by not playing to their potential

That's true, but the handball decision was where France seemed to lose their drive.
