I have a few questions for those attending the university, or those who have, or staff or anyone who can answer them.

    1. In general, do students find the workload overwhelming given the shorter time avavailable to get through the material?

    2. Is there much in the city besides the university?

    3. What accent do the locals generally have, or what accent is theirs closest to?

    4. Is there any data about the demographic make up of the city or university?

    5. If anyone's familiar, how would you rate the Journalism and International Relations areas of study?

    6. Is the general political atmosphere of the uni Conservative-leaning, given its association with Thatcher?

    7. Apart from the international students, is the student body diverse at all? Have there been incidents of racism in the past?

    8. Are there any clubs or decent nightlife?

    9. Generally speaking, is it an improvement from Aberystwyth University in Wales because I haven't been able to find comparisons online.

Of course, I don't expect all my questions to be answered. Just anyone that can answer any of the questions above would have my gratitude.

Every uni is different, but normally there is much more to the area than the uni itself!

This is a good site if you want to look up unis and see student reviews of the place!

    1. In general, do students find the workload overwhelming given the shorter time available to get through the material?
Not really - it's not that high pressured.

    2. Is there much in the city besides the university?
No - it only has 12 000 people. Aberystwyth and St Andrews may be the same size, but the trade-off is the universities are much larger.

    3. What accent do the locals generally have, or what accent is theirs closest to?
Pretty non-descript - southern English Midlands yokel

    4. Is there any data about the demographic make up of the city or university?
About half are British, although that includes Crown Dependencies (like Jersey) and Overseas Territories (like Bermuda), which aren't part of the UK.

    5. If anyone's familiar, how would you rate the Journalism and International Relations areas of study?
International Relations less of a strength than Law, Accounting or Business, as are the other Humanities, while Journalism is relatively new.

    6. Is the general political atmosphere of the uni Conservative-leaning, given its association with Thatcher?
What political atmosphere? Buckingham's students are almost completely apolitical. The good news is that while some academics have conservative or libertarian views, they won't force them on you, but there's never been a serious debating society to speak of, nor a university newspaper to speak of either.

    7. Apart from the international students, is the student body diverse at all? Have there been incidents of racism in the past?
Well, if you mean diverse in the sense of LGBTQ, probably not, but given its apolitical nature, that shouldn't be a problem. Racism is not an issue as white British people are the ones more likely to be looked down on.

    8. Are there any clubs or decent nightlife?
None to speak of - try Oxford or Milton Keynes.

    9. Generally speaking, is it an improvement from Aberystwyth University in Wales because I haven't been able to find comparisons online.
I doubt Aberystwyth could be any worse.
