Depends entirely on the girl, but I'd be hoping for third or fourth date. If they want a bit longer, that's okay though.

thats just silly. What if you both feel you are ready, and know you care about each other deeply enough from the first few days/weeks?
Sex isnt something you should plan, or postpone or whatever, it should happen when you both feel it's right, and you both want it and feel the same way about it.

If I had to wait longer than 2 weeks I would prob move on (unless there was a good reason/communication with the girl)

I don't think I would want to call something officially a relationship until after I'd had sex with them. Or at least a certain level of sexual contact.
That's what confirms that you are interested in each other.

Also, if it's appallingly bad, you can back out and not get into a relationship.

I don't particularly like the idea of having sex with someone I'm not sure I'm going to be with in the long term...

Having sex based on when it feels right, that basically is asking people to trust their fleeting emotions and hormones. I'd wait a short period of time minimum before engaging in the act, but thats only because i place a different value on sex.
