Do you intend to stay in investment banking (IBD, S&T, research, risk, compliance, IT, operations, finance) or:
    1) move into something else in finance
    2) do something completely different
    3) retire early
    ?

I was just wondering what people here were thinking of doing...

Well I want to go into risk so there aren't many exit opportunities there except maybe move to a different bank.

Yes or move to a hedge fund.

Yes but that might change depending on whether I burn out or not and on whether I actually manage to get into banking in the first place.

No. I want to do something completely different after around 20-25 years.

If I like it, yeah. If not, probably exit to PE.

Plan is to gain experience and make it to the top of a career first, then with a comfortable cushion start my own company.

    Doubt I'll ever retire tbh.

Yeah, doing something or other. Be that starting several companies or investing.

    Retiring just looks boring

Maybe the work is more important to him than the salary?

Will probably hang around for 5-10 years depending on how it goes. Then move into something finance related but less intense such as corporate development, and then perhaps, eventually into a senior operational role at a large corporate.

But to be honest - who knows. Will just see what opportunities arise as I go along.
