Because surely if remain won the second one then leave would demand another as remain got a re do

Yes. Which is why we cannot allow a second referendum.

I believe most people simply want one of the sides to have a more significant win.
Also because the campaigns were run so poorly, based on lies and people now can see what they've actually voted for and said consequences.

    It would.

If you don't like the leave result here is what you need to do:

    1. Recognise leavers concerned about mass immigration. Ignore them when a few say to end all immigration or send all people home. Don't judge them by the extremists. All groups have extremists. Arguably even the conservative promises on mass immigration are a bit ambitious in the short run. Stop calling everyone names for not being pro-immigrant extremists and bigots.
    2. Lobby the EU, the government, to offer one last chance of reforms in the very few months that we have before article 50 is invoked. In principle the EU should offer no more or less than the previous negotiations. Less of some things (Tory crap), more on control of mass immigration. Essential rebalance towards the concerns of leave supporters. The UK to be responsible for making a technical system to ensure that it is fair and reasonable but other states to cooperate where actually necessary. The control over freedom of movement should be similar to EEA terms in 112,3 but made more robust and available to all states that meet the strengthened requirements. For enacting it the UK expected to work on further developing infrastructure, services, reducing international immigration (priority towards EU) and building more houses. This can't just be special treatment for the UK, which actually does have special circumstances, but should be for any country that has a period of serious problems with unregulated movement of people. It acts as a safety mechanism or a break. Better for countries to be able to slow down or take temporary measures than permanently have to leave the EU. A possible concession from the UK not to leave for so long but this would be a very extreme concession so the EU would also have to also offer something. It might require a fair number of bi-lateral concessions and new mutual benefit agreements.

The only point of a referendum after that would be to measure if people are happy with new EU reforms to replace the previous which people were clearly not happy with. In that case it would not be circular. It would however be better to find another means to measure public approval. The reforms though would have to be good. Damned good. No chance for failure. Unless you listen to leavers there is 0 chance of compromise, turn around and so on.

Although, second time round, we'd be better informed as we know all of Leave's claims have been blasted already.

no, it would cause a blood and guts civil war which leave would win as they are mostly gun toting country men not millennial city hipsters who a scared of cutting vegetables in case it hurts their feelings
