    14) Relax, and fight off my anxiety
    Spoiler:
    Show
Not going to strikethrough this one. Might be an interesting read for some
Probably the hardest task here. Anxiety has plagued most of my teen years, giving me health conditions doctors can't diagnose and I can't control - lumps in throats, chest pains and panic attacks, etc. I really just want to live a normal life as a silly, social teen.
However, anxiety has given me some blessings, - I talk less in class, and focus on my work, come home immediately and stay out of trouble. But perhaps its greatest blessing is that it makes me stick out from the crowd, as the "smart but awkward" kid, to the point where people say I don't belong in my race
Nevertheless, it needs to go - it's taken over my life too long. Hopefully over the holiday, I can relax and get rid of it by occupying my mind with these tasks ^^^

Well, here's hoping I can take these on and actually do something this summer!
Last Edit: I certainly did xD

A completed task will be indicated by a tick, keeping it nice and simple

    1) Do a week of Work Experience at my local GP.
And while I'm at it, I might as well make new friends who are also doing WEX there!

    2) Make revision notes for my GCSE exams.
Especially triple science notes - honestly the amount of content I need to memorize is huge. I'm aiming for 3 9's and 7 A*s at GCSE, which is not impossible, but it is hard to do. Better prepare early!

    3) Read Life of Pi, write a short review, then watch the movie!
So many of my teachers say that this book is their favourite or second favourite. I need to see what all the hype is about, which I can do while improving my English skills by both reading great fiction and writing reviews. Then I'll watch the movie, which I admit is just so I can justifiably say: "Meh, the book was better."

    4) Buy a video game, finish it, and write a short review
Most likely, Fire Emblem: Fates. Never got around to purchasing Awakening and reviews of it seem pretty good. Moreover, I'm a Nintendo guy so naturally this will attract me

    5) Finally decide on a sixth form, uni to go to and career I want to take up in the future
Also need to look up open-days for sixth forms, and courses universities offer (though it might be a bit early for that)

Medicine is what everyone expects of me but I think it's farrrr too, well, overrated? I mean, it's such a cliche career - "I wanna be a doctor!" "I wanna be a footballer!" "I wanna be a singer!" - all of that. I like being the "2edgy4u" teenager.

    6) Practise some French
I'm not expecting to become fluent in the language over the course of six weeks, but I feel I need to improve from where I am, especially in the "listening" department. This is mainly so I can get an A* in French at GCSE.

    7) Make pancakes!
Dunno how to cook, might as well start with the easiest thing to make lol

    8) Compose a short piece of music
Forgot how to play my piano Instead, I'm going to learn how to use a free music composing app, then make a short piece, perhaps inspired by a video game

    9) Drawing project
Something nice, maybe a setting or a character? Frankly I'm a cruddy drawer so I want to improve.

    10) Work-out!
I have such a sedentary lifestyle, it's sad. I'm not overweight (in fact I have a very fast metabolism) but I know I need to make a change. Otherwise, I will have to live with hypertension and diabetes for the rest of my life
Also I want a six-pack. That summer body will impress the ladies

    11) Hack my phone...
I have quite an old phone running Android 4.2.2, which doesn't meet the requirements of Pokemon Go sadly, which requires at least 4.4. Therefore! I will [have to learn how to] modify my phone to run 4.4 and run GO

    12) Visit Berlin!
Well, this one is kind of cheating, since I already plan to visit Berlin over the summer. However! I will make it my goal to visit monuments like Alexanderplatz and the Brandenburg Gate to make it more of a challenge.

    13) Grow an inch or two!
I just wanna be taller I'm 5 foot 8 right now, and 15 years old. Hopefully with the right nutrition, exercise and sleep, over the course of the holiday I will be 5'10!

    14) Relax, and fight off my anxiety
Probably the hardest task here. Anxiety has plagued most of my teen years, giving me health conditions doctors can't diagnose and I can't control - lumps in throats, chest pains and panic attacks, etc. I really just want to live a normal life as a silly, social teen.

Life of Pi is brilliant! I read it last year, like you thinking that then I could watch the movie, although I haven't actually got around to watching the movie...

What gcses are you taking? I didn't realise that they were mixing the new gcses with the old ones already.

I took French in the summer and I found that memrise really helped. There are flashcard sets specific for exam boards and I wish I had started earlier learning vocab.

Pancakes are quite easy to make although they take a while to perfect. My attempts always end up in odd shapes. Flipping is a feat that always evades me.

I hope the holidays help with your anxiety. I'll definitely be following your bucket list!

Thanks! I can't wait to start too, but my Summer Holiday hasn't even started yet, will start next week

For GCSE I chose French, IT and History, in addition to the compulsory subjects (Ma, En, EnL, Bio, Phys, Chem,)... and RE. And I will definitely be using memrise - I already have it installed on my phone but I can never be asked to open it . But now you have mentioned that it caters to each exam board, I will have to try it. I can't play Pokemon Go forever

Thanks again for the support! ^^

French... I'm so glad I never have to learn it as a subject again. I know. I'm the same with Quizlet. I've had it on my phone and iPad for about two years and never opened it... Some people have created courses for gcse french. I did edexcel and the flashcards I found were really good.

I keep forgetting that most people haven't finished school yet... I'm getting too used to the long summer.

Looks like procrastination caught the best of me

Anyway - I've completed two of my targets:

    1) Do a week of Work Experience at my local GP.

    This one was incroyable! seewhatIdidthere?
The staff were absolutely lovely, and so were most of the patients. There was a friendly atmosphere in the GP, from the staff making silly jokes, to other interns lightly mocking me . But there were also frightening moments, such as dealing with impatient, irritated patients who had too much to complain about, from the slow service (it was a busy day ) to the heat in the GP (wasn't my fault either )

There were also the frequent heart attacks I experienced when the phone rang, before picking it up - "will it be a nice patient?" "will they shout at me?" "is it something i can deal with?" Very often it was a nice patient that wanted to book an appointment, but occasionally I would have an old stern guy who would repeatedly demand "I WANT AN APPOINTMENT FOR 3PM!" after I told him on multiple occasions "Sorry sir, but 3pm is booked for someone else..." :call:

Still deciding which job I liked the most there though, between operating the shredding machine and shadowing doctors. Shredding was fun as hell. I guess it's just the thought of destruction . But in shadowing I learnt sooooo much, and I'm grateful for all the info i soaked up. All in all, it was a great experience, and at the end we threw a great party and engulfed tons of chocolate cake. Yum. :yum: (this site has an emoji for everything)

    11) Hack my phone...

This one was tricky, but I managed to do it before Pokemon GO's release . It was quite difficult, but with the help of internet tutorials I managed to root and modify my phone. Felt like a total bada** (are we allowed to say that?). Now I'm playing GO on an unsupported device, without having to pay for a new phone. #ThugLife

Stupid hotel has the slowest free WiFi, I decided I'd just do everything when I got back -_-

So I am! Without further ado,

    12) Visit Berlin!
Ah, Berlin! The capital of the country of lederhosen and beer!

...of which I saw none of. The heart of the country seems to be taken over by the top-hatted capitalists, which, to be honest, I expected. Either way, the city looked gorgeous!

The hotel I stayed at had tasteful food and some decent accommodation. I wasn't exactly expecting a five star hotel, so I was content with what I got. I arrived there at night, so my first impression of Berlin is reminiscent to the picture above ^^

Now of course, I didn't forget to take pictures! The many landmarks Berlin sports naturally lured me in like a moth to a flame. I find that simile works perfectly, as my curiosity practically forced me to go up Alexanderplatz to take a gander at the view, neglecting my acrophobia:

(I took the following photos myself)

Now of course I'm aware that there is a lot of history in Berlin. And I thought it'd be a wasted trip to ignore it! I ended up visiting:

There is certainly more to this photo than it seems. Under this innocent white van, Hitler allegedly committed suicide (trying not to trigger conspiracy theorists to claim "he escaped!blahblah" . The guy responsible for the death of millions and the inspiration for the Holocaust killed himself metres under this simple white van, while he was tucked in his bunker, spending his last days. Which is good, imo. He's doesn't deserve recognition in any way.

Which was cleverly crafted by architects to stimulate what life was like for a Jew in Nazi Germany. Looks like it was super effective in that court, since it ended up giving me a little nausea (though I am a little fragile by nature).

Home to the Nazi Olympics, and where Hitler desperately tried to prove the "superiority of the Aryan Race". Herrenvolk, I believe it's called? Also where Jesse Owens won his four gold medals for his events, dominating the Nazis, proving his theory wrong. Didnt take pictures from inside though, I forgot >.<And of course I visited Germanys most popular landmarks, the:

    Brandenburg Gate

The cool thing about this, is that it lights up at night. Man I wanna go back there

    Reichstag

Germany's government building IIRC? There's also history behind this too, since the old Reichstag was burned down by a person likely to be a Nazi. (And then they blamed the communists! Completely fair play there.)

And that pretty much wraps up the highlights of my trip! Now I need to decide what I need to tick off next

    UPDATE: 7. Make pancakes! ✓
Well, this could double as "Learn to cook", but that's kind of invalid since all I can make now is pancakes... and instant noodles

Ingredients: flour, milk, eggs, pinch of salt, veg.oil, and that sweet sweet sugar

The funny thing is that I didn't have access to a scale, so I had no way to discern how much of each ingredient I added, except from my common sense (which, I'll have you know, is lacking)

I did whip that batter well though, I mean look how well the heavenly thing turned out:

Then came to cooking the darn mixture, and the juxtaposition between the final product and the batter is even more apparent than the contrast between heaven and hell

Well, this kicks off the beginning of my drawing project, and the theme is: Pokemon! (Although I'm guessing TSR really doesn't like Pokemon anyway -_-)

To be honest, I think this one went quite well (unlike my pancakes), but the cross-hatching/shading needs improvement...

Well, I can tick this one off pretty early. Perhaps it's all the extra sleep I've been getting (10 hrs a day!) and the extra exercise I've been doing playing Pokemon Go lol. But now I'm 5'9, maybe even pushing into 5'10. I'll make sure to update later at the end of the summer with my new height!

    6) Practise some French
Special thanks to Ara8311a for this one! I managed to use the AQA GCSE French course and am currently in the process of learning new french words! I'll also make it a daily goal to do the course at least twice a day, to not only ensure a good French grade, but maybe also spreak it fluently in the future? I dunno, I find it kinda cool to be multilingual.

    5) Finally decide on a sixth form, uni to go to and career I want to take up in the future
Well, I haven't officially decided, but I have a few choices. I dunno if they are widely known, but they include the London Oratory (too strict tho ) and St. Olaves. Both have entrance exams, and will probably only take in the very best, so I have little chance of getting in.
Like this on a pre-GCSE exam? wtf?!!

Oh well, worth a shot anyway.

About University, that's a decision I don't think I should make this early. At the time being, anything Russell Group will satisfy me, but then again I've come to the realization that the title "Russell Group" alone does not determine whether I would like it at that uni or not. Regardless I would like to get into Kings or Oxford. Who wouldn't?!?!

And finally, career. I settled on something both sciency and mediciny, a Medical Researcher. It consists of making medicines and contributing to society in a positive way, something I decided I really want to do. Of course, it's subject to change though, as I discover more about medicine and science.

Oh God, I suck at making banners
A completed task will be indicated by a tick, keeping it nice and simple

    1) Do a week of Work Experience at my local GP.

    7)Make pancakes! ✓

    8) Compose a short piece of music
Forgot how to play my piano Instead, I'm going to learn how to use a free music composing app, then make a short piece, perhaps inspired by a video game

    9) Drawing project - In Progress!

Hi your bucket list looks super awesome! How did you do that thing where you put a line through the text? Hope you can make some progress with your anxiety Ik myself it sucks but Im glad you are seeing the glass half full approach! Like fr thats so nice to see someone thinking like that.

Ah! The strikethrough? It's not something you can find on this website, I used a strikethrough generator, here it is: And thanks for the support, I definitely am making progress with getting better. Maybe it's just the holidays, but I'm finding it a lot easier to relax and even go out and talk to new people! I'm improving ^^

    14) Fight off my anxiety!
Not entirely sure if it has fully disappeared, but I do feel a lot more confident in myself. I have most of this to owe to Pokemon Go, which practically forced me to go outside, and in the process make new friends. It makes social situations a lot easier for me, and now I don't feel as much dread when I'm asked to go out to the shops to buy groceries, and I don't fear meeting classmates outside of school, like I used to.

I don't have the panic attacks I used to at crowded places, that forced me to shrink into the foetal positon with my head in between my knees and breathe slowly.

I don't even feel the brain fog I had during term time, but it might start back up again, who knows :/

I'm praying desperately that all my problems would just evaporate. I want to just experience "the best years of life" without constant worry and fear.

    Moar pancakes :P
On the bright side, while practicing making pancakes again I happened to make a human heart-ish shaped one, weird :

I think now would be a good time to tick this one off xD. Though I didn't exactly "Work-out" per se. More like walk, jog and run 100+km trying to hatch my eggs in Pokemon Go (maybe even more. The distance tracker is horrible in that game. I've even ended up discovering new areas in my city, including monuments that I've never heard of just a few streets away!). Not all at once though, that would be too impactful on my body lol

Also now I can do an 800 meter run without giving into my legs at the end. Thanks Pokemon Go!

    Conclusion
So that's the end of my Bucket Full of Summer (thats honestly what I should have named the thread, to help it stand out more lol). I've had a lot of fun making the list and frustration editing it, and the feeling of accomplishment you get when you complete something, and get to tick it off, is great.

I would have never even learned how make small dishes if the challenge didn't force me too. In this list I talked about making pancakes, but I made so much more, including cakes, scrambled eggs (easy i know lol. I'm a noob) and pasta with tomato sauce (not ketchup :P), which now I can whip up if I ever feel my stomach growl.
The challenge also unleashed the inner photographer in me at Berlin, making me look like a weirdo when I pull out my phone to snap the oddest things. I only upload the relevant photos however, so that's a loss xD

What I am disappointed about is the fact that I didn't finish everything on the list. I have got the book Life of Pi and the Fire Emblem game, but I never got around to actually finishing them and writing a review. I WILL read Life of Pi though, I've heard too many good things about it. And the humour is spot on from what I've read so far

And finally, I'd like to thank the creators of the challenge for practically forcing me to do something this summer. Even if I don't win anything, I'll be happy to know that I was actually productive this year and I did something to benefit myself.
