I need some help deciding which one to get.

I currently have a WiFi Only iPad Air, but it only has 16GB which keeps filling up, so I want to trade it in and get a new iPad with at least 32GB storage.

I currently have a £100 Apple voucher from recycling an old iPhone, and if I recycle my iPad I'll get another £110.

I use my current one mostly for browsing the internet to help me study, reading eBooks, occasionally writing up lecture notes (I have a bluetooth keyboard), watching videos and films, and scheduling appointments.

    My options are:

    1. iPad Air 2, 64GB, WiFi only - Apple store for education for £408 with beats headphones
    • If I sold powerbeats2 headphones (going on ebay for around £100) and used my vouchers, this iPad would cost me £98
    2. iPad Mini 4, 64GB - Apple store for education for £379.20 and beats headphones
    • If I sell earphones this will end up costing me £69.20

The iPad Mini 4 will save me around £30, but I prefer the bigger screen of the iPad Air 2. Which one should I get?

Get the one you prefer. £30 is nothing in the world of computers.

I have an iPad Mini 4 and love it, but if you really prefer the bigger screen of the Air 2, I think you should get that. £30 isn't much extra money to spend if you'll be using the iPad a lot.

Unless you need the portability benefits of the Mini line, the Air 2 has a slightly more robust soec sheet and all the advantages that come with a larger display. For the sake of £30, I would choose whichever one is more convenient to you.

I'd go for the iPad Air 2, both because of the larger screen and the more powerful processor. While the Mini only has the A8 chip, the Air has the relatively powerful A8X chip. The difference right now might be minor, but over time it will be noticeable. The A8 chip originally launched with iOS 8, so with the launch of iOS 10 this autumn it will be relatively old. As you'll want to keep the device for a while, it's worth going for the model with the better processor, as it'll cope better with iOS 10, 11 and beyond.
