    Hi all, first post!
I'm wanting to do primary teacher training. I've just had my 2.1 degree result but I don't have the gcse results in maths and English that you need. I'm quite willing to do them both (starting now) at night school but could I still apply for the teacher training course before completing these?
I emailed one of the unis I'd be applying to and they just said that I must meet the requirements before the course starts next August.
    Any advice would be great!

I'm not sure what advice to offer really. Get them done before the course starts next August!

I am curious how you managed to do A-levels and a degree without C grades at Maths and English though. They are usually a prerequisite.

    Good luck!

Hi thanks for replying. I didnt do a-levels. I did standard grades and highers but not in maths or English. I didn't need them for my open university degree. I just wondered if I had to have them already before applying.

No, you do not need to have completed them before applying - in your application form, you will be able to provide details of any courses you have yet to complete, so it will be clear to the course providers that you apply to that you are currently working towards meeting these requirements. If you are successful, they will make you a conditional offer which requires you to pass the GCSE courses you are taking in order to get onto the course.

Do you already have a GCSE-equivalent qualification in science?

You could start your maths/english courses in September and apply for PGCE courses at the same time for the following September
It just means you'll only receive a 'conditional' offer until August when you get your results.
As you've found though, some providers will be picky.
