When you said you paid for half of it, did you get a job to pay for that because if the price of those suits were in the thousands it must have taken ages for a seventeen year old to come up with the money.

Can i ask, is that a Secondary placement? Are you looking to becoming a teacher?

I'd hate to have a placement in a secondary school. I know at my comprehensive if we had a student come in to teach us then we would just try and make it as much hell as possible :p:

I'm soo glad my 6th form doesn't have a uniform, my wardrobe consists of:

6 Plain White T-Shirts
3 T-Shirts with beer related jokes/sayings on them
3 Plain pairs of Jeans
1 Tweed Jacket

I think that totals to about £100, £50 of which went towards the jacket. I don't see the point in spending extortionate amount of money on clothing. Excluding the jacket which my parents bought for me so that I look relatively smart for formal occasions.

Well, I'm not really teaching as such, or not yet anyway. It's mostly observing and either helping individuals/small groups by explaining things, marking their work etc or teaching an activity to the whole class for a small part of the lesson. Technically I'm never supposed to be left alone with them either, but I have been a few times and they haven't run riot or anything yet :p: I was quite surprised actually because 2 of the classes I observed (on my first day, no less!) were bottom set Year 9 and I thought they'd be a nightmare, but they were pretty nice.

I have absolutely no idea...
I bought two skirts in the Miss Selfridge sale for £7 each  for work experience, but i guess i could wear them next year. They didn't do a matching coat though.
Anyone have any idea of places which do nice looking women's suits????

Deipnosophist123
I've done a lot of work already this summer (£100 for a week at a school, £150 for a week at an investment bank etc. etc.) and I also took money out of my own bank account.

And Deipnosophist123, :O you are very, VERY lucky indeed!!
Do other people in your school wear haute couture as well, because if they don't you'll stick out like a sore thumb! But a very well dressed sore thumb at that :p: hehehe

There are loads of clothes snobs at my school. Rest assured I will not be the best dressed

But I do appreciate how lucky I am...

I'm annoyed that we don't have to wear a uniform at the sixth form I'm going to. I'm not remotely interested in fashion so it'll just be another tedious decision to make.

I know what you mean.

My school uniform, same as year 11. Bit miffed at that!

That is a bit bizarre!

And I'm loving that pic in your signature, btw

I didn't even realise people wore suits to school, it seem a bit ridiculous to me but there you go, in answer to your question school unifom ended at year ten so I've just been wearing jeans/skirts and nice tops for the past four years. I'd hate to have to dress so formally for school.

lol... im totally thinking exactly the same...
I had no clue any 6th form had to have a particular dress code... o.o

Reply 35

hahaha poor all of you!

In Hong Kong we wear casual clothes for sixth form!

Reply 36

we can wear 'smart casual'...so basically no jeans..

Reply 37

We can wear whatever the hell we want, but it's so damn annoying. Ive now turned absolutley obsessive with buying clothes, because everyone else alays seems to look so nice and never wears the same thing more than once. Gah I wish we had uniform.

Reply 38

i wouldnt worry about repeat clothing..after about a week at my sixth form..people got lazy and repeated stuff all the time..and generally stopped following the code

Yay! Finally bought my first suit today!
It's black, from Oasis with a matching high waisted pencil skirt and trousers.
I hate suit shopping so much, it's really frustrating. Fingers Xd I'll find some suits in colours other than black when I go on holiday to USA in 2weeks

Girls, you can get nice suits from Warehouse, Oasis and Next. Zara have lots of choice too but sometimes they don't do matching jackets
