You are free to say hateful things about certain people (like religions, races, genders etc.), but they are against the law. When you compare the UK to a country like North Korea or Turkmenistan, the freedom of speech is far greater and the UK wouldn't be seen as restricted at all. It's just when you bring in certain issues like hate speech, which shouldn't be allowed as they promote violence and seperation, and all countries have some level of law about.

You have the freedom to say things that you are allowed to say. The moment you say something controversial, you will be shut down.

Free speech doesn't exist. The question is - are all of these limitations a good thing? Should people be able to incite hatred?

You're free to say whatever you like as long as it doesn't offend anyone. In other words, say what you like as long as it's not racism, discrimination, hate speech etc.

But then again, that doesn't matter because of how people think. Something you see as normal to say, another will see as eg. Discriminating so in reality, freedom of speech is extremely subjective.
