Nay because this creates a conflict in the Guidence document.
Also thsi doesn't allow for technicalities like when I left the greens for the liberals I was a duel member for 2 weeks waiting to get my leadership controls revoked.

The current situation in which it has to be approved by the party leadership and speaker is good enough.

Nay, should be up to parties what they decide internally on the issue

I don't like dual membership myself. *However, it should be up to parties whom they choose to admit as members.

Obviously nay. I can't see the possible objection to a member testing out whether they should defect before actually making the move, provided there was a sufficient level of trust between the parties involved and both were in agreement.

Sounds a bit like the people who nominated Jeremy Corbyn to ensure a debate. Not that this amendment will deny the country a decent official opposition.

That's not a sensible thing to do, the requirement is useful because anything that is a really, really stupid idea wouldn't even be considered, and besides, other people like you and me are stuck between a rock and a hard place if this actually passes.

In fact, in my opinion there should be a requirement that the seconders come from three or more different parties.

And if there aren't enough people who support something it will fail anyway; but this at least allows it to be discussed.
