Can I still make friends if I commute to work? watch

I've landed a graduate job and the rent is too expensive in the surrounding area so i have decided to commute to work every day. it'll probably take 1 hour and a bit each way so not absolutely terrible.

But the thing is, most of the other graduates are sharing houses or flats together while I'll be travelling home by myself. Is there any hope for me to make friends or to socialise with them?

I'm also quite introverted so I find it hard to make friends, at uni I was quite lonely and only had a few friends, again I did commute but that was uni. I think work will be different. Any feedback?

I'm sure you are not that introverted as you managed to land a graduate job after all.

I'm sure you will make friends, My situation sounds different to yours but I did and I lived at home while most of my colleagues were in house shares. We bonded over monthly team bonding activities and going to the pub on Fridays. You won't be able to stay out at the pub for too long if you have to travel but we had someone who only had one drink at each outing before having to rush to catch the train and we got on with her just fine. Later on in the year when we got to know each other better she would stay at someone's house after a particularly boozy Friday session which allowed her to stay out longer.
