How to get good at english so that I can get an A*(level 8)?

Also any tips by anyone else to become better at english

English is just one of the subjects where practice makes perfect. Once you get punctuation down and learn how to lay out paragraphs (PEE or whatever it's called; Point, explanation, evidence. IIRC), you only really need to work on your vocabulary, which like I said, it comes with practice.
Try writing an essay once a week, on whatever but try to make it 'creative writing', then use a thesaurus for 'key' words, keep doing that you'll start to remember words and phrases. Eventually you will start to develop a writing style. That's it really, easy as that, just takes a little work.
