    Hi all

I have been desperately apply for PGCE primary places but keep getting rejected.
Finally a university emailed me and suggested I apply for their secondary course as my qualifications would be accepted there.
I was educated in South Africa so my degree is comparable to just a degree rather than an honours degree.

Any secondary teachers who teach English, do you find it fulfilling? I am finishing my Masters in English at Sheffield and guess this would be the position for me if I did go the secondary route.

Alternatively can I switch to primary after finishing my NQT year? How easy is it to do?

    Advice welcome please!

Register with the Get Into Teaching website

You will be cold called, but they can answer any questions you might have. Then go onto the schools experience website and get yourself a couple of days booked, in primary and also secondary settings. I think only when you have been in the classroom can you make an informed decision about whether it is for you. It might also be worth tapping up local schools to see if they will have you in for the day. You will struggle to make a strong application unless you have two or three days in the classroom as your personal statement needs to show your reflections of having observed lessons.

    Good luck!
