    Hi,

My English teacher told our class that we have to have decided our dissertation texts by the first day back at school, which is August 19th for us. I have been really struggling in choosing two books to compare, despite my love of reading.

I would like to compare The Grapes of Wrath and Uncle Tom's Cabin, yet I fear that there is nothing strong enough between these two novels to compare. Does anyone know if there are any strong themes which occur between both?

If not, what other American novels do you think would be interesting to compare? I'm certain I want to use American novels, as they are the most interesting to me.

    Thank you.
