    Hi all,

Please help me sort this out. I am about to start a MSc this September, but I definitely intend to continue my studies in the future. Would it make sense to apply for an MPhil? Is it a completely different type of qualification? Also, I am uncertain about the whole admission process. They won't be able to examine my MSc grades, which I will get later in the year than the application deadline, will they? Will they take my bachelor's grades into consideration then as far as academic ability is concerned?

    Thank you very much

No, in most cases it won't make sense. If you want to progress academically apply for a PhD. You need to read each specific University website about what the qualification contains, there is no consistency between degree titles, and an MPhil in one Uni is quite a different degree (not just subject) from another Uni.

The 'I won't have my grades' situation is nearly universal - you will probably get a conditional offer based on your Masters.

I could have been more specific universities-wise, but I thought it wouldn't make any difference at this point. Thank you very much!
