I'm a bit confused. From what I've gathered TSR used to review personal statements for free and I'd very much like to get feedback on mine. However, when I go to the forum that instructs us to start a new discussion to get our reviews, the "start new discussion" button leads to the PS builder tool. I actually tried submitting mine through that even though it was a pain, but in the end it said that if I wanted a review it would cost 40 pounds or something. Has TSR stopped free reviewing or have I just missed something?

    Hiya,

Yes, they unfortunately got rid of it a few years ago. Sorry. :console:

I tried it once when the reviewing was available. I was honestly disappointed. The reviewer didn't even give any personal feedback, they just sent me copy and pasted information on the structure of a personal statement. After asking the reviewer why that was I was pretty much told my PS was ****, didn't follow the layout etc etc. I then used the career advisors service and was told my PS was fine. Used that PS to apply for uni's and DID receive interviews and was offered places.

Book a slot with a career advisor or use their online service.

I heard they might be bringing it back but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

    This seems extraordinarily unlikely.

The service is due to be coming back this year (hopefully very very soon) but is likely to be restricted to only people who have been members of TSR for a certain length of time or who have over a certain number of posts.

It might be worth joining in on some of the TSR results day chat threads or in the uni forums for the subjects/universities you're considering (or even the Pokemon Go thread or in the news/current affairs sections).

(Don't spam though you might get in trouble- just join in and contribute )

I had heard a rumour. I just didn't want to say anything in case I was wrong.

What subject will you be applying for. I don't mind helping you out if it's within my specialism.

Too bad TSR doesn't do that anymore, but thank you so much everyone for the helpful answers!! :h:

Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it - although I'm applying for medicine and you (apparently) are more into literature etc, so it might be a bit of a far reach?

TSR will be offering free reviews within a month or so.

As I said - there will be limits on who is eligible for a review so it's worth making a bit of an effort to answer unanswered threads you know the answers to or joining in on community conversations to make sure you'll qualify.

The reviews all (took) take place in a private area of the site that isn't accessible to google or other search engines. Only the person getting the review and those doing the reviews (who are all verified university students or graduates and have demonstrated a good understanding of how to review a PS) can access the PS drafts.

Hence why I said if it's within my discipline!

    Good luck sugar.
