    Hi guys,

So i'm planning to do my GCSE's at British council privately and i wanted to know if it's compulsory for university that i should do English as second language if it's not my first language or can i just do English literature instead?
Will it be alright if i don't take English?
And is math compulsory for universities?

I recommend taking both English Language and Literature. English Language GCSE does not consist of basic vocabulary like French, German and Spanish GCSEs. It requires lengthy writing and literary skills. Nearly all UK universities will want to see an English Language and Maths GCSE.

Personally, I think English Literature is harder than English Language. It is a valued qualification but is not vital for the majority of employment prospects.
