Ooh, a competition!
To be honest though, there isn't much point anyone trying to persuade you one way or another, because you genuinely will almost certainly enjoy it wherever you are. They are both nice halls, nowt wrong with either of them, and they're pretty close to eachother anyway. I guess my loyalty would say pick Hope (well, Kilmorie to be specific!) but either will do!
Good luck, do it quick!

They're both gorgeous, both catered, both similar price, both similar place on campus. Just put them both down - you'll be happy wherever you end up.

I'm going to be biased and say Hope as well - considering I had the time of my life there last year!!

I know Lopes is lovely too though, so as the others said, you'll be happy in either.

I'm going to be biased and say Lopes :p::wink:

Seriously, though, as others have said it doesn't really matter, both are lovely.

LOPES!!! it has an awesome huge green as well which hope doesnt have which is great for the summer, and with 3 separate halls within Lopes you get an awesoem mix of people!!
Reply 6
Hope has a fair bit of green space.....
And less rahs.
Reply 7
There aren't that many rahs in Lopes, I would have said it was a real mixture of people. Plus people that I didn't think I'd get on with, and did.
Reply 8
Fewer rahs...

Sorry.

Yeah, I was generalising slightly, but Penny C does have a slight reputation for it, purely cos of the cost I imagine.
Met plenty of nice people there though

Fewer rahs...

Sorry.

 Heh.

i would say lopes but, as with everyone else, only because i lived there! hope does have a lawn outside so don't let that deter you! quite often see people playing lacrosse on it whilst others are are just sitting around chatting. as for penny c attracting the rahs, i wouldn't necessarily agree with that... as most people when applying aren't aware that the three annexs of lopes are so completely different. anyway, lopes  i've only been back once this year, but it was probably one of the funniest nights ever lol xx
Reply 11
Lacrosse? You wish :p: The only 'games' I see people playing on that lawn are drinking games (and possibly also the occasional game of frisbee) :p:
Reply 12
Yes, and not just any frisbee! I enjoyed a night of glow-in-the-dark frisbee on that lawn. Good times.

LOPES!!!!!

lived in main wing this year & totally devastated to have left it :frown: best year ever!

you won't regret it
With Lopes bear in mind there is a risk of ending up in ransom pickard..

yer, but still. you get to be part of lopes! and the people in ransom pickard when i was in lopes were well chilled out, really good people, who had a laugh and a good time regardless of the older annex. x

if you're an unconditional applicant (i.e. post a-level) what are the chances of getting your first choice accommodation if you say specifically you want to be put here? (i'm thinking about it for next year since i haven't applied yet)
Reply 19
In my experience it tends to be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you get your form sent off nice and early, there's no reason why you wouldn't get your first choice.

My form left my hands within hours of me receiving it, and I got my first choice.
