I just graduated with a 2:1 from a good university. I want to continue further but Im not sure whether I should do an LLM (just a masters of laws) or whether to do the LPC. I've always had in mind that I've wanted to become a solicitor but the part 1 modules of the LPC are putting me off. On the other hand, I like the idea of selecting all the modules of my choice for the LLM. Im applying for BPP for the LPC and I have applied to Queen Mary and SOAS for the LLM. Help?

What would you do after the LLM? If you want to be a solicitor then at some point you will have to do the LPC whether or not you like the look of the modules...

I don't think that an LLM from either QMUL or SOAS would be a great improvement to your employability if you already have a 2:1 from a good university.

So, the question is to spend money and time on a masters in order to defer doing either the LPC or BPTC vs just going straight for it. That's your call ultimately. I'd only do the masters if you're willing to drop money to learn things (that probably won't help career wise) for the sake of learning things.

Thank you guys. You're right about doing masters just for learning, ha thats not really my goal at this stage. Been applying for paralegal roles yet its so competitive and I feel i need to do something as an LLB isn't sufficient for me. I will submit my application for the LPC, but I just found out that post graduation loan from student finance will not fund it which makes things even more harder now. Tbh to even attend queen mary is a dream- and another thing, I havent got good a levels, ( BCC) so also another issue is deciding whether a training contract will be possible.
