S6 is obviously more expensive but I'm wondering whether the extra cost justifies the actual handset.

Samsung Galaxy S6 is a good phone. You can go for it. It worth the extra money.

This link should help if you want to look at the specification of each phone in comparison.

Personally go with the S6 because it looks nicer (the protruding rear camera and glass back looks incredible). Also, it is very powerful so mobile gaming, streaming films and taking photographs is a breeze

I'd go A3 purely for the reason that the S6 doesn't have one of my crucial requirements: the MicroSD card slot. (It was brought back on the S7, so Samsung knew that was a mistake!)

Most modern day smartphones are powerful enough for most things. Heck, even my 2 year old Galaxy S4 runs most things ok! And the A3 will be cheaper than the S6 too.

Galaxy A3 has less internal storage than the Galaxy S6. But you can expand its memory with a microSD card and the Galaxy S6 can't do.
