Oh, and does is there any difference in how well you can hear, depending on where you sit?

Depends on the venue to be honest. Have a look at the seating plan. Directly in front is best if possible. Make sure you're not behind a pillar or something :p:

Middle [both ways] stalls is usually a good bet.

D-H stalls are probably the best.

Check comments on individual theatres here: http://www.theatremonkey.com/seatingplanindex.htm

Yeah, depends on the venue. If it's a massive place, the front stalls might be a rubbish view if the stage is high up. Front Circle's also good. But gallery/balcony - whatever that theatre calls the highest balcony's usually a bit rubbish.

I was in Row B Stalls, for Mary Poppins.

The Stage was high so i couldn't see the Actor's feet !

Definatley sit Row F back in the Stalls

Theatre Monkey is a great site. Has all the Seating Plans & good seats for each Theatre

I usually opt for front row circle in the centre at theatres with that set up. At theatres where it is raked seating then centre towards the front middle.
