I will be starting an MA in Arts Management this Sep, and even though it is not required, I have no prior knowledge of management - at all.

I have been given a list of books that I can read to start on my front foot, but I do want to do well on this course so I'd appreciate any advice from those of you that study/studied management about what to do other than the obvious student advice: always go to class, read all the bibliography you can, participate, etc. Something specific to management or arts management would be great!

If you can get some management work experience during a holiday, do. That's what employers want to see.
