Phone up your choice of university and asked to be released from the course, if they say yes then you will automatically become available for clearing.

Yes UCAS extra is now closed so clearing is your only option. Out of interest if you don't mind me asking, why the change of heart?

    i'm not sure.

i dropped out of lancaster in may due to depression.

i'm now being treated and want to get back into higher education ... but i'm just not sure if Leeds is right for me ... the idea of it just isn't sitting comfortably.

If I email uni's are they allowed to tell me if they will be offering clearing places?

You can never say for sure that a university will have places in clearing, a good way to gain a general indication is by looking at what universities had places for your course for extra this year, there is also a thread on TSR will what came up for clearing last year.

Its great that you are going back into higher education, I had the same feeling as you earlier on this year only it was the course rather than the university that wasn't "sitting well".

As thejester said, looking at what unis and courses were in Extra this year is probably the best place to start because the chances are most of them will also be in Clearing. If you can get hold of the Indepedent from last year's results day, eg in your local library, all the unis that advertised places in Clearing will be listed in there, and people on TSR might be able to tell you as well. There's certainly no harm in emailing unis to ask though, and most should have a pretty good idea by now, so I don't see why they wouldn't tell you.
