I don't feel sympathetic for him. He wants to wash away Japan's militaristic past and the war crimes committed from the young people's minds. Crazy fellow.

I always think that its funny that Sino-Japanese relations can't progress unless Japan is fully transparent about what transpired during the days of the Japanese empire. The majority of that generation is dying and the latest bunch of politicians hold onto the past as some relic that has be trotted out, should China wish to offer any political or economic relationship.

Japan has never asked the same of the US, Russia has never openly admitted to what it did during communist times to its allies and former enemies, and even the Chinese themselves are unwilling to openly discuss events such as Tibet and Tiananmen square.

I am a member of the school of thought that suggests that those who forget the past are consigned to repeating it, but I'm also of the mind-set that that full transparency can only exist should there be full unilateral transparency across the board. Abe and his Diet colleagues can make as many fatuous statements as they like, but perhaps it would be prudent for Japan to press China on its current human rights record and physical exploitation of its people rather than trying to justify what their dead grandparents did over 60 years ago.

Someone check these for me;

Muchos appreciados.

「今日は飛んではいけない、危ないよ!」(Sounds more natural if you say something like 「今日は危ないから飛んではいけないよ!」

Muchos appreciados.

Hope that's OK :smile:

Particles were done on the cuff. I hate particles, I will have to learn them properly.

I wanted to use the 'te + ikenai' function and use something that would make it sound plausible.

Thanks anyway.

行ってもかまわない = it doesn't matter if you go.
I think its okay for you to learn.
I want you/would like you to laugh.
You cannot run.

Taking the next level (pre-intermediate) this term in Japanese, going to try and go over some of my old notes before the first class because I've not been practising.

Looks like Fukuda has beaten Aso 330 votes to 197 to the leadership of the Lib Dem Party. He's almost guaranteed to be voted PM now!

Oh well Kimoso, did you feel like you have learnt a lot from when you went to the classes?

I've missed so many classes this term for Japanese I'm actually worried. Going tomorrow to it then need to start revising like crazy and speaking it as much as possible.

No, I never studied it before, I took it because I had no interst in learning French.

Okay, definitely going to try and speak Japanese with my friends today, but will fail miserably again. Still better than most first years on my course though.
