Why not pop into or ring up your bank. They will be able to answer that question in the blink of an eye. That said, overdrafts are dangerous places. Use as a last resort.

    Good luck!

pretty sure you have to have started your course and paid in money before you can request your overdraft facilities

Your student loan does not have to go into that account.

You should have access to the minimum overdraft amount (usually £500) at the start once you have created the account. You cannot have the account before you have confirmation on paper from UCAS that you've been accepted into your chosen uni, that you can then give to the bank anyway

Going into debt even before we have started. Avoid overdrafts, only use them in an absolute and I mean absolute emergency. I just checked the interest on my overdraft, and it's a crazy amount. The interest for late payments that is.

"When leverage works, it magnifies your gains. Your spouse thinks you're clever, and your neighbours get envious, But leverage is addictive. Once having profited from its wonders, very few people retreat to more conservative practices. And as we all learned in third grade — and some relearned in 2008 — any series of positive numbers, however impressive the numbers may be, evaporates when multiplied by a single zero. History tells us that leverage all too often produces zeroes, even when it is employed by very smart people."
