Have just finished studying mathematics at Reading and have an offer for a master's in Operational Research at Edinburgh with fees discounted from £10k to £3k.

However, I have just been offered a place on the NHS graduate scheme in financial management in Norwich.

I am interested in a career in management/finance/analytics, although Edinburgh seems like a nicer place to live than Norwich. Would appreciate any advice on what to do.

Operational research sounds interesting. The choice if this was up to me, I would go for the NHS. This is because I am over 30 years old. I worry about putting food on the table for my family. I am happy to start earning some money rather than study. If I had gone to Uni straight after A Levels then I would choose the Masters. The fees discount is very very good. In this day and age when university fees are going up, this is too good to pass. Everything then comes to individual circumstances. What are the job prospects after the Masters? How many doors will be Masters unlock? Mind you the NHS scheme has been here since 1956, I think and seems to be there every year. You could do the Masters, and still apply for the NHS later on if all else fails. Other things to consider: Why this Masters? Is it interesting? Does it go hand in hand with your career prospects. Does it add any value to what you want to do in life? Hope this helps.
